An endless challenge.
AX is the mid range chiller, either air or water condensed, manufactured by Eurochiller to cool
process water. Eficiency, flexibility and high performance are the main features of this series.
Due to the free-cooling function, the AX-FC version enhances the energy saving.
Structure.
Dessigned to be sited outdoors without any additional weatherproofing, AX and AX-FC framework is constructed from
ALU-ZIN steel coated with polyester resin.
Multiples of compressors coupled with twin gas circuits provide reduced energy consumption and safety
back-up.
Evaporator, tank and hydraulic circuit.
Each unit is equipped with a tube nest evaporator, which can be opened for inspection, immersed in a
stainless steel tank.
Non-ferrous components provide for a corrosion free hydraulic circuit.
FT versions of AX and AX-FC incorporate the tube nest heat exchanger but are designed to work with an
external tank assembly.
Constructed according to the Victaulic system, the circuit is completed by a three-way valve for the
free-cooling function.
Air Condensers.
Modular air condensers are designed to hold a minimal amount of refrigerant gas and include a sub-cooling
circuit for optimizing and enhancing performance.
Standard supply includes condensing pressure control and air intake filters constructed from thin
stainless steel plate.
Water cooled versions are fitted with tube nest condensers and pressure relief valves.
Compressors.
The units incorporate hermetic scroll compressors, thus improving the ratio between absorbed and output
energy. One or two gas circuits are incorporated according to capacity.
Fans.
The Axial version has fans with the blade angle set to reduce noise level and boost performance.
The Centrifugal version has centrifugal fans for either exhausting the warm air or for heat recovery
during winter.
Electric and control panel.
Electrical controls are housed within an IP54 enclosure.
The power circuit includes magneto-thermic auxiliaries, phase control relays and a transformer for the
control circuit.
The Eurochiller customized panel provides for control of the machine functions, indication of status and
alarms and includes an RS 485 serial port. It can also be remote mounted.
AX-FC: Environment and energy savings.
AX-FC operation is based on surrounding ambient conditions.
Natural resources of air and water are utilized to provide thermal head exchange with little impact on the
environment. Eurochiller uses continually improving, innovative technology to meet its moral duty of
providing clean heat transfer energy.
Companies using Eurochiller AX-FC are not only contributing to the safeguarding of the environment but are
also taking the advantage of minimizing investment payback times as can be substantiated by calculated
and published data.
How It works.
AX-FC units differ from traditional chillers by the addition of a finned air/water heat exchange battery
(free-cooler), a 3 way water flow modulating valve, pressure transducers and temperature probes supplying
data to a microprocessor with unique software which then governs the operating parameters of the system.
By exploiting low ambient air temperatures to cool water circulating through the finned heat exchange
battery (free-cooler), cold water can be produced at minimal cost resulting in considerable energy savings.
AX-FC functions in three different modes according to operating and ambient conditions:
1. Cooling by refrigeration compressors
2. Cooling in Energy Saving mode
3. Cooling in Total Free Cooling mode
Energy saving = Money saving
The ability of a free cooling unit to function partially without the use of refrigeration compressors
results in direct energy savings.
The experience gained by Eurochiller during many years of manufacture, has allowed us to achieve these
energy savings using environmental conditions to supplement cooling.
